Visit to Normandy Part 2: Bayeux and the beach
You may have heard of the famous Bayeux tapestry, which tells the story -- through needlework -- of William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings. With an audioguide describing each panel, we made our way along the tapestry (all 70 meters of it!) and heard detailed explanations of each important scene. We also had the chance to visit the magnificent Bayeux cathedral while we were there, and it was a real treat!
Bayeux
We stayed in a nice youth hostel in a seaside town not far from the D-Day beaches. Before dinner, the students enjoyed time together in the courtyard playing games and talking about their day. After a lovely dinner together, we went for a group walk down to the beach where the students had a great time walking, posing for photos, and collecting shells. Great end to a great day!
