First Excursion: Dinan, Dinard, and St. Malo

We had an outstanding first excursion yesterday with gorgeous weather, beautiful sights, and lots of new experiences! We visited castles, toured a basilica, meandered down a very steep medieval street, walked along ramparts, picnicked at the beach...let's just say it was a full day and one the students will likely never forget.

The pictures below are grouped in order of our day. At our last stop, St. Malo, students completed a "treasure hunt" created by their instructors -- one more way to help them take note of the sights, sounds, and meanings of this amazing experience.

I want to also share one particularly lovely moment with you from our day out. As we were walking along the ramparts together on our last visit of the day, a woman pulled me aside and said "You should be very proud of your young people.  They are so polite and well-behaved." It was a well-deserved (if unexpected) compliment: this group of students is an absolute joy to teach and to travel with!

PS Look at all those smiles!!
