Week 2: Role plays, Bowling, and Farewell Show/Program magazine prep

Bonjour from Saint-Brieuc!

It has been a busy week of new experiences for the students in Saint-Brieuc.  We have had beautiful weather -- warm but not hot, some clouds but no rain -- and that has made our forays outside of l'Igloo an absolute pleasure.

As mentioned earlier, we have morning announcements each day at 9:20 followed by either our Success & Support Groups or Group Activities.  On Thursday, we had students practice how to be polite in various scenarios -- in a shop, on the bus, in town, etc -- by engaging in short role plays.  Each student got the chance to play both roles in each scenario, and there was a lot of earnest practice -- along with a lot of laughs.

During our afternoon activity on Thursday, students did a variety of activities before leaving for our optional bowling excursion -- which everyone participated in!

Here are some pictures from our afternoon sports and bowling excursion:

During Friday's afternoon activities, some students worked on Program Magazine ideas while others did more brainstorming about the Farewell show. One of our students plans to draw a likeness of each member of the group for the magazine and took individual photos to use for her drawings, while others sketched out layout ideas, listened to music, gathered lyrics to be learned or transformed into their own versions of popular songs, discussed skit ideas, or collaborated with their friends on ideas for their own performances.  Have I mentioned how creative this group is? We are awed and inspired by them every day.  😃
